His family is all there and I enjoy visiting them at least once a year but I have become frustrated because I am unable to participate in the conversations. I get the gist of what is going on but I would like better for myself. Plus, its about keeping my brain agile and the number one way to do that is to learn a new language. Angelique is a wonderfully skilled and talented French instructor. She's also a perfectionist which means that you will get the pronunciations and grammar rules correct so that you will be understood by native speakers. I can do the different "R" sounds now that exist in French that have no parallel in English. Angelique has unique ways to train the muscles if your mouth and throat so that you get it right. She send recording for you to practice with and her ears are like the mother with eyes on the back of their head-She hears every everything and will not let ANYTHING slip. And that is how it should be. My husband is a native French speaker and in my early attempts to learn with another teacher, my husband would look at me confused and say "Huh? Huh? Huh?". No more of that. He smiles so big because he is able to hear my improvement even when I cannot perceive it myself. I've been with Angelique for 9 months and already I can understand more and actually answer questions in our conversations about the material. There were days when I wanted to cry (and I did) because it seemed like it wasn't coming.I would practice and hope to move on and she would say-no you aren't there yet. Of course she was right but my heart would be so heavy those days. I am used to being a high achiever and things happening fast. This is exercising a completely different part of my brain and it is coming. I'm looking forward to our next trip to France because I want to burst forth with more French cuz you know-French people look at you like-you should speak our language. I know you are here for only 1 or 2 weeks but still....you should speak perfect French-even though they speak not a lick of English. " I’ve been studying French with Angelique Glennon and « Speak It Live a Native » for about 18 months (time flies!). I first studied French in high school and a few semesters of college, but I had forgotten all but basic grammatical concepts. I could not converse well enough to be understood when traveling in France. My immediate goal was to hold basic conversations with French speakers on our francophone travels, which I’ve achieved. " I’ve wanted to learn Spanish for a couple of years now. A few months ago, I finally started researching options. I wasn’t quite sure what to look for because I have never studied a second language before. I am a working adult and enrolling in a community college to learn a second language was an option, but didn’t seem like the best option. When I reached out to Angelique, she was very prompt at replying to my messages, and also wanted to schedule a phone call so that she could find out exactly what I was looking for. Living in Southern California I feel it’s important that I know Spanish, but I was also interested in simply expanding my mind and learning a new skill. I originally enrolled in one of her group classes, but there were not enough students enrolled for the class to start so I decided to do one on one sessions with her. I’m really glad I decided to do that because I think I need the focused attention as a foundation for learning a new language. I’m six weeks into the class with her and all I can say is, wow!
